RSA Animate - Changing Education Paradigms Reaction

Here were the parts that got me....

I really like the animation. and it aids to the impact of the topic of education reform. The biggest issue since I've been in education is that we never see a plan to compleation. Every year we make a five year plan never realizing the goals we set. We set goals for our kids monitor their porgress and evaluate them. We don't do it for ourselves. The focus of education has changed in the last 15 years of kids and learning to test scores and money. There is only one person that can be held accountable today and that's the teacher. Is my dentist responsible if I get a cavity?

Key project reflection

It always seems to take longer to complete a project when you have to work on the little bits and pieces. I'm forever trying to remember where I left off the next time I start working on my project . For some reason when I upload my video to YouTube something in the YouTube  compression algorithm altered some of the text in my video. I think the story has take you somewhere, has to evoke emotion and create unique memory.

lost a very dear friend this week

Hi All,

It's been a tuff week here I lost a very close friend this week. I do have my key project finished. I'm planning to make a video entry tonight about a MM tool.



Mr. Lindsey Roy Quick, age 71 of Laurinburg passed away to Heaven on Friday, September 16, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Michael Edds and Rev. Legrande Taylor. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Lindsey was born August 11, 1940 in Scotland County, son of the late William Roy Quick and Cornelia Carlisle Quick. He was a loving and Christian husband and father. He was a retired Educator and Administrator in both the Scotland and Robeson County School Systems. Lindsey served as a faithful longtime member of the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was also an active member of Gideons International and a lifetime member of the Stewartsville Fire Department.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Wood Quick of the home; his children, David Roy Quick of Laurinburg, Sharon Linda Quick of Laurinburg, Donna Carolyn Quick of Columbia, SC, Sheila Gale Quick of Raleigh.

Brief description of lesson:	The instructor will describe what background music is and play several different verses while projecting a graphic organizer that accompanies each example of background music.  As a whole group we will have a discussion about what background music is and spend time in class identifying and analyzing background from various media.  Counting measures and outlining them using a computer, LCD projector, and graphic organizer to visualize the concept. Students will compose the background music for the poem using MixCraft. Students will then construct a story line of pictures using Power Point. Students will import their pictures into Movie Maker.Students will then compose the background for the poem using MixCraft. Students will then record their own voice with the background music using Audacity and export it as an MP3. Student will then import the MP3 in Movie Maker and complete their video project. Students will post their projects to eChalk and evaluate and critique the work of five other students in a positive and constructive manner.
Instructional Objectives:	·         The student will be able to identify what background music is. ·         The student will compose background music and post it to discussion board. ·         The students will create a movie presentation of a poem. ·         The student will evaluate and critique the work of five other students in a positive and constructive manner.
Procedures for whole group introduction :	As a whole group we will have a discussion about what background music is and spend time in class identifying and analyzing backgrouns music from media.  We will review how to use Mix Craft, Audacity, eChalk, and Power Point.  We will also practice composing background music together class a class project.
Address diverse needs of learners:	Students can make their composition as simple or complex as they feel comfortable.  Students who have trouble remembering the procedures will be given a graphic cheat sheet with the procedures outlined for each step of each program.  Students will also have access to tutorial videos detailing each step of each activity.  Students who have completed the project will assist those who are or may be struggling as will the instructor. Students whom work at a much slower pace will be assigned specific verses.

The experence

So here we are school has just started back and I'm starting another Lesley class. The whole Lesley exeperenc has been good. It's kind of like being on a reality show. I've started to learn how to edit video before but I've always lacked the time and patentce. I guees it's time now.
