Do we unlearn how learn/Games in Education

We use Quia where I work to reinforce newly learned concepts and to review previously learned ones to review for the ECO’s. We have 100’s 3D models that the classes can perform simulations on as well as many Eureka simulations. Many people believe that gaming will be the next evolution of education and instructional technology. There are hundreds of 18 year old kids in Whitacha, KS sitting in simulators flying drone planes all over the world wirelessly. Those simulators look just like video games. The Army has spent $50,000 per high school in our region providing training and resources to ensure that students can be offered the opportunity to learn game building skills. The starting salary of a 3D animator is between $75 and $159 an hour and there are not enough to go around. James Gee has a very though provoking idea with games as a learning system. We learn much about the world around us through play as children. It makes me ponder the TED excerpt we watched earlier. Do we unlearn how learn…
